Antiques and vintage items of all sorts are a joy to behold. Collectors of varying interests, tastes and focus seek everything from old razors to fine glassware. Election buttons, tools and hardware, bonnets, gloves, handkerchiefs and even spitoons are among the items searched for. There is some contraversy as to what constitutes an antique. According to customs regulations an antique is a man-made item 100 years old or older. Some sellers offer items from as little as 50 to 80 years old as antiques. As the public definition is somewhat vague this is often considered acceptable. When it comes to age vintage is another term that is in dispute from time to time. In its application as to the age of collectible items it is generally accepted as being 30 years old or older however, once again, there are variations of opinion. Some people include remade, remanufactured or made like vintage items in the mix. Some even include new items made with vintage materials. If in doubt, please inquire of the individual seller.
